Classical ballet

Classical ballet, completed by Marius Petipa (1819-1910) in the 19th century, is a ballet style with Grand pas de deux. Grand pas de deux includes an adagio, solo variations by the male dancer and then the ballerina and a coda with both partners dancing together. Sleeping Beauty (1890), The Nutcracker (1892) and Swan Lake (1892), composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, choreographed by Marius Petipa and derived from the Russian court ballet, are considered the three masterpieces of classical ballet. Classical ballet stories could be either romantic or realistic and they could also be based on legends. Dramatic and lyrical situations are also expressed in a variety of ways.
